LMGC 2024 Open Championship
On a sunny day at Les Mielles, 58 players participated in the LMGC Open, with early players aiming to take advantage of the calm conditions.
In the first group of the day, Daniel Brannan struggled on his front nine but found his rhythm on the back nine, finishing with a 2-over gross back nine for a nett 69. Also in the first group, Andy Wood shot two rounds of 40 gross, also resulting in a nett 69, joining Daniel in setting the score to beat.
Captain Chris O'Connor, Peter Roscouet, and Nigel Porter, who played in the morning, came close to matching the clubhouse leaders but ultimately finished with nett 70.
In the afternoon, as the wind picked up, the best rounds were turned in by Alan Cabot and Fil Gouveia, both shooting a solid nett 71.
Congratulations to Peter Dixon and Alan Cabot for shooting the best gross scores of the day, both with a 77. Peter secured the scratch prize on count-back on the last three holes on the back nine.
Special mention goes to James Laverty, a visitor from St. Clements, who scored his first hole-in-one on the par-3 8th hole, nailing a 5-wood into the wind. Welcome to the club, James!
